Quaker Tapestry Museum is an award-winning attraction that is world famous and it features an inspirational exhibition of embroidered panels which tell various stories covering revolutionary ideas, railways and the remarkable people of the local area. The exhibits contain three hundred and fifty years of history. The tapestries have all been hand crafted by four thousand people from around the world. This attraction has interactive displays and films to watch.

The Antiques Emporium is another fun activity for couples to do as they can enjoy a stroll around many this delightful emporium and browse the many antiques and bric-a-brac. Hawkshead Brewery, Staveley, Kendal

For visitors that like beer, the Hawkshead Brewery is a location that must be visited whilst in the area.  Its visitor centre allows a peek into the world of beer brewing and bottling and you can take a look at the brewing process, and also wander through time by exploring the history of the brewery. There is also a specialist international beer shop, a conference room, a function room and a beer kitchen, where you can enjoy some tasty food during your visit.

Westmorland Shopping centre is a great place for a bit of window shopping as there are a vast amount of shops including Topshop, The Body Shop and even Poundland, if you fancy hunting for some bargains, to name a few.

Abbots Hall Art Gallery is an award-winning attraction and the gallery is housed in a Grade 1 listed building. Abbots Hall is located in the centre of the town on the banks of a river. This attraction will provide an inspiring day out for people of all ages. The Georgian Period room is dedicated to George Romney who is a Cumbrian born artist and he was one of the greatest painters of the eighteenth century.

The Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry will be an interesting day out for people of all ages. A visit to this attraction will enable you to experience what Victorian farm houses were like from the food that would have been in the kitchen to the elegance of the parlour. The galleries at this attraction tell the story of the arts and crafts history in the area.  This attraction is a great way to discover tanning, mining and farming which would have taken place in the Lake District and it gives an insight into how inhabitants of the area would have lived many years ago.

Kendal Museum is another popular family friendly attraction which dates back to 1796 when it was opened by William Todhunter and is filled with collections of plants, minerals, animals, fossils and antiques. The displays at this museum are regularly updated and they all have many interactive features.
