One attraction that you might want to visit is Skipton Castle which is home to some remarkable architecture, and it dates back nine hundred years. Over the years this castle has been a powerful stronghold for the Clifford Lords who participated in all of the major battles. At various times of the year the castle is home to re-enactments. Another attraction that you might want to visit is Bronte Parsonage Museum located in nearby Haworth. This museum is located in the home that was once occupied Emily, Charlotte and Anne between 1820 and 1861. This home is a lovely preserved Georgian property which is located between the wild moorland villages and it has been operating as a visitor attraction for more than seventy five years and it has retained much of the atmosphere of when it used by the Bronte sisters. The rooms are filled with furniture, personal possessions and clothing that once belonged to the sisters. The display changes annually therefore there will always be something different to see when you visit here. The rooms that you can see are the kitchen, Mr Nicholl’s study, a children’s study, a dining room and Charlotte’s room.

For couples who enjoy a bit of retail therapy Skipton Market is a place to visit. This market has a rich history that dates back to medieval times when the royal charter gave consent to hold a fair on the High Street and this still holds today. The owner of Skipton Castle owns the right to hold a market on four days per week. Nowadays the medieval fairs have been replaced by traditional style street markets, but the principles are still the same. For many years the market was where animals were traded but now there are stalls selling a wide array of different produce.
